India Post GDS How to Apply 2026

Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) is a job in India Post Office that helps Branch Post Offices run, especially in rural areas. GDS personnel deliver mail, provide postal services, and handle customer transactions as a Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), or Dak Sevak.

The 10th standard marks are the most important thing for the job. According to the rules of their department, GDS staff obtain Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) and other benefits.

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

The first step in the India Post GDS application process is to register once.

Candidates must:

  • Visit the official GDS Online Engagement website.
  • Click on New Registration.
  • Please give us a functional mobile number and email address. We will check both with an OTP.
  • Please tell us your name, birthday, gender, and group.

The information you give must match the 10th class marksheet exactly. If there is an issue, the application could be cancelled.

After you join up, you’ll get a registration number and password sent to your email and cell phone.

Only one registration is allowed per candidate.

Step 2: Fill the Online Application Form

After registering, candidates must log in with their registration number and password throughout the application period.

The application form includes:

  • The application form has personal information that is filled out automatically when you register.
  • Details about the 10th standard board and grades
  • Choosing a Division
  • Post preferences within the chosen Division

Candidates can apply for more than one job in the same Division by ranking their choices. If you make the shortlist, though, you will only be offered one post.

Before sending in their applications, candidates should use the preview option to thoroughly check all the information.

Step 3: Upload Photograph and Signature

Candidates must upload:

  • A recent passport-sized photo in JPG or JPEG format that meets size requirements
  • A clear scanned signature on white paper

If the photographs are blurry or hard to read, the application may be turned down. The candidate is responsible for making sure that the files they upload fit the requirements.

Step 4: Application Fee Payment

The application fee is:

  • ₹100 for General/OBC/EWS male candidates
  • Exempted for SC/ST, PwBD, Female, and Transwomen candidates

You can pay with a debit card, credit card, online banking, or UPI. You can’t get your money back when you pay the fee.

If you have to pay a fee, the application will only be considered complete after you do so.

Step 5: Correction Window

There is a two-day period after the application deadline to make changes. During this time, applicants can change any allowed information in their filed application. But you can’t modify your email ID or phone number.
