About Jogamaya Devi College
Jogmaya Devi college is one of the oldest women’s colleges in Eastern India. It was established on 17th July 1932 by dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee in response to the growing demand for centers of women’s education in Kolkata. The college is affiliated with the University of Calcutta, and it is also accredited grade B college by the NAAC, AICTE. Jogmaya Devi college offers 24 courses across three streams, namely Arts, commerce and banking, science, and across 6 degrees. The college has campus facilities such as an academic zone, auditorium, boy’s hostel, canteen, library, placement, medical facilities, sports are also there.
It offers UG courses with both general & honors subjects. The college opened its first regular two years PG courses in Bengali & Botany. The university grants commission also approves the college. The college receives funding from the government of India through the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan. These include courses on foreign language, professional development, human rights, Montessori teacher training, value orientation, etc. The main objective of this college is to empower women from all sections of society by providing quality education along with the necessary skills to face competitive and challenging circumstances.
