Khadya Suraksha Yojana: The Food and Civil Supplies Department of Rajasthan launched the Rashtriya Khadya Suraksha Yojana on 02-10-2013. The objective of this project is to provide the general public with adequate quality food grains at fair prices so that they can live with dignity.

This law provides coverage under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) to 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population to receive subsidised food grains, covering about two-thirds of the population.

Objective of the Khadya Suraksha Yojana

The purpose of this scheme is to help poor families in Rajasthan, who are financially weak, to purchase food items and improve their overall well-being. This scheme is an important initiative designed to provide proper food supplies to vulnerable families, even in small amounts. Through this scheme, the people of Rajasthan are receiving significant benefits in terms of food security.

Through this project, the Rajasthan government is providing food security to financially disadvantaged families. Under this programme, people are supplied with adequate food items at low cost. Who is eligible for this scheme?

Only applicants who meet the following conditions can apply for the scheme:

  • The applicant must belong to an economically weaker section.
  • The applicant should be a native of Rajasthan.
  • The applicant should have a ration card.
  • The applicant should be from Antyodaya/BPL/Annapurna families.
  • Registered labourers can apply.
  • Small and marginal farmers of the state can apply for this scheme.
  • Senior pensioners can apply.

Who cannot Apply this scheme

  • A farmer who has land earmarked for a marginal farmer. There is more land than that.
  • A person who holds a government job falls into this category.
  • Those who have a pucca house on 200 square feet or more of land.
  • A person who has a four-wheeler in his family.
  • Any person resident of Rajasthan who is a taxpayer cannot take advantage of this scheme.

How to Apply for Khadya Suraksha Yojana

To apply for this scheme applicant follow these simple steps:

  • Visit your nearest e-Mitra centre to collect and fill out the application form.
  • Submit your completed form along with the required documents.
  • The concerned officer will review the application.
  • After successful verification, your name will be added to the list of beneficiaries.

Benefits of the Khadya Suraksha Yojana

  • Antyodaya families are provided with 35 kg of wheat per family.
  • Other eligible beneficiaries receive 5 kg of wheat per unit per month.
  • In the state, Antyodaya and Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders are entitled to wheat at a subsidised rate of 1 rupee per kilogram.

Other eligible families classified as priority families receive food security at 2 rupees per kg per month.
